London Fashion Week #LFW takes place in February and September annually. It showcases new collections from the world’s top designers. LFW is part of the ‘Big Four’ fashion weeks that are held in New York, London, Milan and Paris. This year, LFW will be held between 16th and 20th February. Previously for trade only, LFW is now open to the public and many shows are streamed live on the web. LFW is big business, generating orders in excess of £100 million. But according to the New York Times @NYT, getting fashion inspiration from a catwalk show during Fashion Week and even the #redcarpet may be a thing of the past.
Streetsyle to become de rigeur and according to the NYT article, many celebrities are using the street, airport and everyday situations (including the short walk from the car to the catwalk show) to show their style and their fans are loving it. But despite the casual, thrown-together look of their street-style, many celebrities now employ stylists to curate their casual look. Hmm!
My talk, ‘Why should Psychologists care about Fashion Week?‘ for the British Psychological Society London & Home Counties branch taking place on Tuesday 13th February has sold out. Come and say ‘hello’ if you’re attending, but if you missed out on booking a place, please let me know via email@example.com as I’m planning to repeat it in the near future. Hope to see you you on Tuesday or soon.
