Introduction to Fashion Psychology
Our relationship with fashion can be one of love and hate, sometimes simultaneously. Understanding how we engage with fashion, whether creating it, shopping for it, buying, wearing and disposing of can be addressed by Psychology. To address this, a new sub-disicpline of psychology, the Psychology of Fashion, was created in 2012 when I joined one of the world’s leading Arts universities, University of the Arts London, to develop a Psychology Deptartment and create the world’s first Masters programmes to apply Psychology to Fashion. Since then, the subdisicpline has gone from strength to strength and is now a global phenomenon. I established my consultancy in 2017 and since then, I have become the go-to person for comment, research insights, training and mentoring in the field of fashion psychology and am regularly quoted in internat the press, fashion media, TV and radio.
